How long has Student Bylines been in operation?

Since the fall of 2000.

How often do you come out with the magazine?

We print Student Bylines Magazine annually. We also have a new online edition that is updated monthly.

Student Bylines used to be a quarterly publication--why the switch to annual?

A lack of manpower and funding slowed us down a little. However, things are picking up again very nicely.

You can help Student Bylines to keep making progress by volunteering or making a donation. Visit our Volunteer page for more info.

What kind of entries are you looking for?

Poetry, short stories, essays, book/movie reviews, interviews with authors/artists--teens and otherwise, and artwork of all kinds. We like to see work that is well thought-out, that the author/artist has obviously spent a large amount of time and energy on.

We do not accept fan-fiction, or anything with ridiculous amountsof cuss words. Erotica is not accepted.

We do like to see entries that are wild and fresh. Edgy. Submissions that push the boundaries of what teen writing/art is supposed to be are bound to move to the top of the stack.

Some important things to remember: only send your best work. Proofread, proofread, proofread. Try reading your work out loud. this can help catch all those sneaky little errors.

If my work is rejected, can I resubmit it after I've made corrections?

That is a definite yes. And remember, our free critique service can help you to polish that piece of writing.

If you have questions that weren't answered here, make sure and direct them to seth@studentbylines.com.
